The China Railways SS8 loco, nicknamed "Broom", was built between 1994 and 2001. Totally 245 locos were built. The SS8 0001 reached a speed of 240km/h during the test and became the fastest locomotive in China until 2016. The SS8-0038 is still serving in the China Railway Shanghai Group and belongs to Shanghai Locomotive Depot.
