Some are saved in the "Old Archive", though it hasn't been updated for a loooong time. I am saving the FD stuff anyway for future upload, though mind that with new site being developed, inclusion of FD archive there depends largely on level of donations for the project. (hint, hint! ;) )

Thank you,

I would like to focus on various organic reconnaissance units included in German field divisions around 1944 (Inf., Jäg., Geb.Jäg., Volks.Gren., Pz.Gren.). To begin:

Infanterie-Division neu.Art 44
Division Füsilier-Abteilung :
"The reconnaissance battalion of the Infantry Division, Old Type, consisted of a horse cavalry troop, a bicycle troop, and a heavy weapons troop. For many years it was the basic reconnaissance unit of the German Army. Since the end 1943, however, it has been replaced by the Füsilier battalion. The Füsilier battalion of the Infantry Division, 1944 Type, consists of three rifle companies and a heavy weapons company. This battalion may be employed either on reconnaissance missions or as a crack divisional reserve unit."
