USS Cushing TB-1 (1890's)
The Cushing was built primarily for the USN to experiment with torpedoes and learn how to use them.
She changed colors over time but spent quite a lot of it's career unarmed.

Near as I can tell, the Cushing was originally armed. The bow torpedo was removed pretty quickly as it was a flooding hazard.

Back with a couple new drawings:

AUS, Lonsdale & Nepean 2nd Class Torpedo Boat (1882)

Thornycroft built a number of designs for export. This particular hull style appears in several navies and colonies all over the planet. They could be equipped with a number of features including Spar Torpedos, Dann's Dropping Gear (as pictured) or with bow mounted torpedo tubes. Boilers could appear in 2 variations: single or twin smokestacks (single pictured here, double on the 1st page of this thread). Color is a guess in this drawing. The details and color are from a surviving builders model.
