It was actually developed with the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp, but the performance was the same as a regular BF109, so the Germans didn't bother producing it when export attempts failed.

Still, it means that if a country used P&W as their main engine, I can see that country licensing it.

I highly anticipate it. Wondering how different it would be from what I have in mind.
