Great work people :)

It has been long time since I posted last drawing, and due the shutdown of tinypic website, I have decided to reupload some of my work, with update and upgrade :) Let start with helicopters in former Yugoslavia and Serbia :D

Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1945-1991)

The first helicopter operated by Yugoslav Air Force was Sikorsky/Westland S-51 from 1954 until 1967. 10 units were delivered to Yugoslavia.

The Sikorsky/Westland S-55 was helicopter which was introduced in large number with Yugoslav Air Force. Number of them has been produced by licence at local SOKO aircraft factory at Mostar. This helicopter was used in Yugoslavia from 1960 until 1975, 37 units of Mk-5 and 6 units of MK-7.

I the same period Soviet build Mil Mi-4A helicopters were also introduced in service in Yugoslavia. 24 units have been used from 1960 until 1977.

Polish build PZL Mi-2 was introduced in 1969. 15 units were delivered to Yugoslavia, and remain in service until 1989. Some helicopters have been painted in yellow and used as air ambulances for Yugoslav automotive association (AMSJ).

The Soviet transport helicopter Mil Mi-8T has been introduced with Yugoslav Air Force in 1968. Totally 93 units were delivered, with this type remaining in service after breakup of Socialist Yugoslavia. One helicopter has been used as air ambulance by AMSJ also painted in yellow.

Four of Mil Mi-8T helicopters have been equipped with special Aries-F (Mi-8T/EiPED) device for electronic warfare in 1990.

Four anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters Mil Mi-14PL have been introduced with Yugoslav Air Force in 1980.

Before Mi-14, Yugoslavia has bought six Kamov Ka-25PL anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopters in 1974

The two Kamov Ka-28PL (export version of Ka-27PL) ASW helicopters were last foreign aircraft bought for Yugoslav Air Force in 1987.

Gazelle helicopters produced under license in local factory SOKO from Mostar were the most numbered helicopters in Yugoslav Air Force fleet. This type of helicopter was introduced in service by 1979. GAMA version is armed with four 9M14M anti-tank missiles. Yugoslav Air Force used totally 165 Gazelle helicopters.

Milicija - police force of Socialist Yugoslavia

Gazelle helicopters were also used by police forces - milicija (militia). In Socialist Yugoslavia, each republic and province had its interior ministry - secretariat (SUP), which operated its own helicopter units. Even some cities had they own SUP with helicopter unit. Here are Gazelle helicopters of SUP of Socialist Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina (SR BiH), SUP of Banja Luka city, also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgrade city SUP helicopters, and Gazelle of SUP of Socialist Republic of Montenegro (SUP CG).

The Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter was mass used by milicija. Here are helicopters of SUP of Socialist Republic of Montenegro (SUP CG), SUP of Socialist Republic of Croatia, SUP of Socialist Republic of Serbia, SUP of Socialist Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina (SR BiH), SUP of Socialist Republic Slovenia and SUP of Socialist Province of Vojvodina (SAP Vojvodina).

Another foreign helicopter used by police forces in Yugoslavia was Agusta-Bell AB-212. It was mostly used for transport of police special units. Here are AB-212 helicopters of SUP of Socialist Republic of Serbia, SUP of Socialist Republic of Montenegro (SUP CG), Federal police (SSUP), SUP of Socialist Republic Slovenia, SUP of Socialist Republic of Croatia and SUP of Socialist Republic of Macedonia.

Two Mil Mi-8T helicopters were given from Air Force to Federal police forces (SSUP) in 1980's for anti-riot and counter insurgency operations at Socialist Province of Kosovo.

Republic of Srpska Krajina (1991-1995)

With outbreak of war in Croatia in 1991, Yugoslav Air Force has supplied Krajina Serbs police forces (milicija) with Mi-8T helicopters. In 1992 Serbian Krajina formed its army with air force composed of these helicopters remaining with police colors.

Gazelle helicopters were also used by milicija of Krajina.

Republika Srpska (since 1992)

In 1992 with start of civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina Bosnian Serbs declared its own state - Republika Srpska. With withdrawn of Yugoslav Peoples Army form Bosnia and Herzegovina in same year, Republika Srpska has formed its own army with air force from equipment left by Yugoslav Peoples Army. Its Air Force had one squadron of Gazelle helicopters.

Republika Srpska Air Force also had one squadron equipped with Mi-8T helicopters, used intensively during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina mostly for medical evacuation missions. The Republika Srpska Air Force existed same as Army of Republika Srpska from 1992 until 2006 when armies in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been unified in to one Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1992-2006)

The Serbia and Montenegro have remain after 1992 in Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Its Army has succeed most of equipment of former Socialist Yugoslavia. Mi-8T helicopters continued their service with new markings of FRY Air Force. Number of these helicopters has been lost in air strikes during NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia in 1999.

The electronic warfare version Mi-8T/EiPED also continued it's service after breakup of Socialist Yugoslavia.

FR Yugoslavia operated three remaining Mi-14PL ASW helicopters until 1999 when they were all destroyed on ground during NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia.

Kamov Ka-25PL helicopters remain in service until 1999 when they were withdrawn. Number of these helicopters has been lost in air strikes during NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia in 1999, with single example surviving the war.

The Kamov Ka-28PL helicopters have survived NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia in 1999, but were grounded and withdrawn from service in 2000 due problem with maintenance.

Gazelle helicopters remain the majority of rotary wing fleet in FR Yugoslavia.

Serbian state security service Special Operations Unit (JSO) (1996-2002)

The Serbian state security service has formed its own elite Special Operations Unit (JSO) in 1996 with strong combat aviation squadron. It's equipment were both former police and army, but also imported helicopters. This unit saw most of it's combat activity during the 1998-1999 war in Kosovo, used for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations. Aviation squadron of JSO was disbanded in 2002, wiht helicopters passed to police helicopter unit.
Note: in this period, Serbia was part of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

Gazelle helicopters were used both unarmed and armed version.

Former police Bell 206 helicopters were painted in camouflage scheme.

The single AB-212 operated by JSO was obtained from former federal police (SSUP).

Two second hand Mi-17 transport helicopters were bought from Russia in 1997 for Special Operations Unit. They were used intensive in 1998-1999 combats.

Two second hand Mi-24V assault helicopters were bought from Russia in 1997 for Special Operations Unit. They were used intensive in 1998-1999 combats playing key role in several operations.

Note: in this period 1992-2006, Serbia was part of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

Serbian police remain operating same helicopter types from period of Socialist Yugoslavia.

Republic of Serbia (since 2006)

The old Mi-8T helicopter have remain in service with Serbian Army after 2006. Number of helicopters has been overhauled, with new camouflage color scheme introduced.

Two Mi-17 helicopters from former Special Operations Unit have not been used by police sine 2002 and they were passed to Serbian Air Force in 2006. In 2010 they were overhauled in Russia. One of these two helicopters had fatal crash in 2015 during MEDEVAC mission.

In 2016 Serbian Air Force has received two new Mi-17V5 helicopters from Russia, and three more in 2019.

Gazelle helicopters remain in large numbers operational with Serbian Air Force.

In 2019 Serbia has bought from Russia four brand new Mi-35M assault helicopters. They are painted in unusual Russian Air Force grey camouflage scheme.

Another new type of aircraft with Serbian Air Force in 2019 were five Airbus H145M helicopters. These helicopters are equipped for both transport, scout, SAR missions and fire support.

In same purchase Serbia has bought totally 9 new H145M helicopters - 5 for Air Force, and 4 for Police helicopter unit. Each new helicopter has it's purpose: YU-ICE with camouflage scheme is specified for transport and support of police special forces, YU-MED is helicopter equipped for MEDEVAC missions, YU-MUP is general purpose helicopter with ability to be used both for SAR ore MEDEVAC with attached equipment, and YU-SAR is equipped with FLIR and winch for SAR missions.

Old AB-212 helicopters remain in service with police helicopter unit. The former JSO helicopters remain in their camouflage color scheme.

Republic of Montenegro (since 2006)

The Montenegro has succeed 13 Gazelle helicopters after breakup of Serbia and Montenegro union in 2006. From those 13 helicopters only 6 remain operational.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

With unification of armies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Republika Srpska Air Force helicopters have been integrated in to new Armed Forces (OSBiH). Three Gazelle helicopters were passed to Police of Republika Srpska, and Helicopter service o Republika Srpska, while remain is operated by 1st Helicopter Squadron of OSBiH at Banja Luka airport.
