Construction of the 269m long ship, which will be docked permanently on a reservoir in a rural area of Sichuan province, began on Thursday.

"The Chinese replica will feature an interior reflecting some of the grandeur of the original, including a ballroom, theatre, swimming pool and first-class cabins - with the addition of wi-fi - and will be the centrepiece of a theme park hundreds of kilometres (miles) from China's coast."

Apparently the Chinese thought if Palmer wasn't going to do it, they might as well. But this is simply a replica and not a sea going vessel so this is not a Titanic II. My thoughts over this are split, it'll be very cool to see, but at the same time i'm afraid people will see this as only another fun attraction to enjoy and forget that over 1,500 people died and suffered years of the mental after effects.

Just like Palmer's vision, I'll believe it when I see it.
