It certainly doesn't work for me, even with non-Shipbucket files. I find using IMGUR a lot easier and user friendly. I guess you go with what works for you. And thankyou for the warm welcome back :)

Re: Dropbox - I'm still using it, still with old-fashioned www . dropbox... and with filenames ending on ?raw=1
Btw. I vaguely recollect that at one point there was an issue that old default "Public" folders were abolished for new users, but it worked (at least for time being) if one created a folder with such name the same way like the old ones (actually that's how it works for me - I started to use dropbox quite late)

I actually think that IMGUR is more user friendly than Dropbox. I suppose its user preference in the end.
