Amazing work Char, unlike the ration scale toy train I drew*, I think it's a worthy competitor in the challenge.

*(A lego monorail that I've held back from posting in the thread as it's not a proper entry. After voting is over I'll probably post it and a bellator scale train I drew here. )

The Great Southern Railway, connecting New Holland’s coal-producing east to its industrialised west, was a pioneer of the 4-6-2 ‘Pacific’ type. It was ideal for express trains shuffling back and forth across the antipodean dominion. The 1030 class was the second Pacific design to enter GSR service. Fifteen locomotives were built between 1905 and 1908 at GSR’s own Charlotte Workshops. More examples of the 1030 class were ordered, but problems with the design’s Vauclain compound system led to cancellations. GSR had employed the Vauclain system on a number of its locomotive classes, including its previous Pacific type, but the 1030 class pushed the system to its limit and excessive wear became a problem. They briefly hauled express passenger services on GSR’s main line and before being relegated to regular services. New Holland’s recession in the early 1910s and the outbreak of the First World War precluded the replacement of the Vauclain system when it was economically feasible. Surviving members of the class were redesignated C3 upon nationalisation in 1931. Some soldiered on through the Second World War, but they were among the first locomotives to be scrapped during New Holland’s post-war dieselisation.

Polls Now Open
The submission period for the Trainbucket challenge has concluded. Members of the community can now rate each entry here.
For those interested in selecting the next challenge topic, a separate poll with a single question is now open. The three choices are:
1. Anti-submarine task force flagship.
2. Amphibious assault ship.
3. Luxury yacht conversion of a naval vessel.

Both polls will remain open until 23:59 UTC-12, 22nd July 2021. That is four days from now.

The community poll for the first Trainbucket challenge is now closed. Seventeen people responded in the allotted time frame. They deserve our thanks, as do the sixteen people who submitted entries. As always, these challenges would not be possible without them.
While the number of submissions was small compared to some of our more popular challenges, we still saw many interesting and unique designs brought to life with high drawing standards.

Congratulations to Acelanceloet, the winner of the Trainbucket challenge. They achieved first place with the excellent Bombardier HDSM, and also received the highest score in all categories except drawing quality. Their entry was dedicated to a friend who passed away last year.
Second place goes to TigerHunter1945’s literal last-minute submission, the sleek looking NEXT 1000. The amount of detail rendered in an aesthetically pleasing fashion blew me away. It is no surprise they achieved the highest score the drawing quality category. They also tied with Acelanceloet for the highest score in the design realism category.
In third place is JPDLD and their wonderful rendition of a tamping machine: the Plasser & Theurer "Stopfexpress" 09-3X. It was great to see maintenance-of-way equipment.

51 people expressed their preference for the topic of our next challenge. By a mere two votes, the amphibious assault ship topic was the most popular option.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, many thanks to Kiwi once more and a big pat in the back to ace for winning with his very first train ever (!). The top entries here were really something amazing, some absolutely masterful pixelwork. A complete success even beyond the best expectations and it demonstrates we can hold scale-less challenges too, which is something I had never ever even considered, incredible.

Kiwi, maybe put the winner design in that summary post in the future. It would be simpler then checking couple of pages to find the winner design. ;)

Thank you for the suggestion Rhade. I have added links to each submission and the image submitted by Acelanceloet in the results summary.
