In the vein of the Menace series of challenges, like the Ironclad Menace that was so succesful, I propose a Superfighter Menace Challenge (FD), wherein the participant is presented with the following scenario: The year is 1967, and our Perfidious Nemesis have revealed a very large and sleek fighter aircraft at their yearly Air Show, with immense engines and a huge wing. This obviously means the fighter has superlative performance and high maneuverability. The experience of allies and our own experience in air campaigns in recent years shows that energy and manoeuvrability are crucial to attaining air superiority even in this missile age. We must match and surpass this threatening Super Fighter with our own, and make it in enough numbers for us and allies so that our enemies may not wrestle air superiority from us.

The requirements are to draw a superior jet fighter aircraft, equipped with the latest engines, achieving a thrust to weight ratio of 1:1 or close, a maximum speed of Mach 2.3 or more, and a wing loading conductive to superior air maneuvering.
Will you choose a single engine for less weight and cost or twin engines for quicker throttle response?
Will it be equipped with a powerful radar to detect enemies further away or instead be shrunk to make itself harder to be detected?
Will you demand not a single pound for air to ground or will the sophistication of the craft warrant the now marginal cost of a nav/attack suite?
Will you embrace the lessons of recent conflicts and ship a gun or will you press on with "dogfighting" missile technology?
The Fighter must be in service by 1978.

Another Menace idea I had is the Kaiju Menace Challenge (SB), the requirement is to protect your coastal cities from gigantic sea monsters that periodically make landfall. The constraint is that engagements begin too close to the city to use nuclear weapons.
Will you reactivate a battleship and fire HEP ammunition from it?
Will you form an elite large helicopter fast response formation firing AShMs?
Or will you go all the way and build giant humanoid battle robots?
Someone also said to build a really big StuG

Even if the U.S. atom bombs were so powerful that, when dropped on China, they would make a hole right through the earth, or even blow it up, that would hardly mean anything to the universe as a whole, though it might be a major event for the solar system.

Transport Submarine Challenge

The goal is to design a transport submarine that is able to evade detection through an enemy blockade, and reach far out forces and/or trading partners.

1) Design a transport submarine capable of carrying at least 700 tons of cargo, whether it be solid or liquid.
2) The submarine must be able to travel at least 8000 nmi, with at least 160 nmi being underwater.
3) The time period is 1920-1945, so no nuclear capability.
4) It can be armed, and carry aircraft if you are somehow able to include both carrying capacity and a plane hangar.
5) (for fun) it can be a troop-transport sub.

Going off of this, maybe a FD scale technology demonstrator challenge? either air or ground related

How about a FD-scale military base challenge?
