I have some plans lying around dismanteling my beginners guide, splitting the ship design guide and the stuff that needs to go here. but for me, that's all, just plans, and a very big lack of time........ EDIT: if someone else wants to do just that, I would be glad to be of advice, I just don't have time to work it all out...

the orginal idea was that people would submit questions...what ever (relevant) comes to their minds. We would then craft it and the answers to a FAQ listing... so we just need the questions ;)

How big a part can you use before you should credit ?
Just interested I get that using a turret is ok but would you credit for using a masts or bridge structure ? or a hull (and just fit new sensors/weapons ?

Thanks JSB

Ps acelanceloet apologies for cutting up your ship but I thought USS Teacher was the best one to use.

part's don't need credit.

copy past of an superstructure, mast, etc. from an another drawing, something that only that ship have and no one else: credit.

big copy and past: credit.

drawing where you just modify an ship: credit.

her you have an example ;) :

would you have credited the original artist in this drawing or:

yes credit is an two edged sword. but when an artist have used a lot of time getting references for an ship, then crediting him is very polite to do, it is a way to say thank you for an very good original drawing, and that I can use it. I don't have an problem that Gunship used my drawing as an base in this example... but is how did it, without asking. "It's always polite to ask before using large part's of a ship."

for me, in this case, it would be like this:
- parts : of course no credit.
- underwater hull: credit if unchanged, if completely modified no need for that
- the superstructure/mast bits: no credits needed for one, but if you use 2 or more I would like to be credited.
- if you take an entire ship as base and modify the drawing, you credit the original author. if you draw an ship and use parts of another persons drawing in addition, the rules above apply, more or less.

Hi,
I´ve got a question and I hope this is the right thread to post it...

Is there a rule regarding the colouring of optical equipment (i.e. rangefinder lenses, binoculars, etc.)?
I´ve only seen them in the standard "window blue", which kind of looks too contrasting for smaller optics.

Are deviations allowed? (I`m favouring a more greenish colour...)

Thanks in advance!

The blue you see tends to be the standard for glass/transparent surfaces (exception being Searchlights) Littlebird has a different paler blue which looks IMHO better with modern warships but again, we seem to have a standard in place

When I did The NSM missiles, I used brown, since the glass for the censors and cameras on the missile is brown.

Thanks for your answers!
As I don`t want to derail this thread, I reposted my question together with a sample in the "Bismarck" thread.
