I've drawn an AU triple 42cm (16.5in) SK L/45 turret and want to seek opinions from the experts to see if i've got it right. Its a turret for the Kaiserliche Marine, had Imperial Germany survived past 1918, I've used the same barbette and most of the turret from the AU 2 x 46cm (18.1in) SK L/45 turret I drew.

Cheers guys :-)

TY for the triple 42cm. I have a private Imperial AU and this is even more grist for the mill *s*. Part of that is being allowed under the WNT to build two 35,000 16-inch-armed BBs like the US, UK and Japan. It has so far proven very difficult for the design bureau to create a fast (25-28-knots) well-protected BB under those parameters, so I settled for a welded version of Garlic's L3 with 4x2 38cm guns (two units). We are also allowed to build a 35,000-ton BB in 1927 and 1932 like France and Italy. This offers some possibilities if we are willing to settle for six main guns.

We also complete two Mackensens as BCs and convert the other two as our first real CV, so I am really looking forward to your Mack. I have a version I did a few years ago based on Breyer and Ashley's drawing and details from some of Garlic's drawings, but given your track record I am sure yours will be much better.

Updated parts sheet, combined separate sheets into one, added AU triple 42cm (16.5in) SK L/45 turret, made slight updates to 35cm to 46cm guns.

Hi Tempest,

Apologies for the late shout ... are you sure that the guns fit into the triple? The twin has 21px between axes but the triple has only 13px between gun axes. I mean, obviously, it's AU, so you can do whatever you want with the turret, but I'd thought that was one of the major limiting factors in turret design IRL.

Regards,
Adam

Hi, thanks for your input. I'm currently taking a look at the 15in turret and seeing if I can improve upon it. After that I'll pass on the improvements to the other turrets and go back to the drawing board on the triple.

Thanks again :-)

I've been reworking the turrets to make them more accurate so far I've completed the 35cm, 38cm and 42cm turrets. I've also added versions with aerial identification markings. I hope people find these drawings useful.

Tempest.

Please keep going, these will be very useful. Currently Atlantis is French weapons (for something different), the next one I have in mind will be a German based AU.

I've updated the 46cm gun and added most names of the artists to the items they've drawn.
