My references on the H41 are a little "thin" (basically just Gröner and some stuff from the web), so any help would be appreciated. If I can't find anything usable on that matter, I'm thinking about doing a "waterline-only" drawing... :(
maomatic,
Roooh, I think you have still enough ref for draw the underwater hull !

I can't wait for the H-41...and secretly wish you would apply your master-level skill to H-42, H-43, and H-44 also! :)

I wish it'd happen too, though my (quite possibly incorrect) understanding of the H-44 design process is that it largely consisted of Hitler roaring "MOAR GUNZ!!!1!" at the design staff, and may therefore be light on decent sources.

Roooooooh!!!

Sometimes all you need to do is read the freaking english language wikipedia article on the H41...

"The loss of Bismarck in May 1941 also influenced the design; two large skegs were added to the outboard shafts to protect them and increase support for the stern while in drydock. The rudder system was also designed with an explosive charge to detach the rudders in the event they became jammed."

Garzke & Dulin are cited as source. Wish I had their book on axis battleships.

Still don't quite know how to represent this oddity on my drawing.

Thanks anyway.

Was going through the posts of this thread and after seeing how beautifully-drawn these ships are, I find myself agreeing with Columbamike ( :o ) in that I'd also like to see the H-39 'as completed 1941-43' and H-41 ' as completed 1947-49' drawings.

Well, here (s)he is:

H41

Displacement: 74.803 tons
Length: 282,0 m
Propulsion: 165.000 shp
Speed: 28,8 kn
Main-armament: 8 x 42 cm

I still don't know about the way to depict the skeg. It looks extremely odd like this...
