Seems they are sticking with that darker grey as the 3 have finally finished fit out and are on the way home reportedly. Hopefully the extra one will finally get a proper paint job now.

interesting little piece in Airforces monthly, speculation that Irish are looking at Grippen-E

I'd imagine the decals will be added once they are back here, I mean we now have 2 280 reg aircraft so there's clearly still work to be done.

Not really its a non-story that got picked up by blogs and media, basically the equipment plan for the next 5 years was published and in it had a reference to "interceptors", at which point everyone started talking about us buying Jets. In reality it was a one line statement put there only because the older WP referenced in the "if we ever spent the money wouldn't it be nice" and whoever did the Equipment Plan felt they had to reference.

Seems they are going with pretty much ark grey with only small bits change:
