The Royal Moroccan navy, with bases both on the Atlantic and in the Med, has raised funds for a new class of ships that you! (Yes, you) have been asked to design.
This is a large class (so keep the price low, as much as possible) of oceangoing minelayers/auxilaries capable of laying minefields, supporting anti-piracy operations, amphibious assaults, relatively primitive air defence, or any number of missions it may be called upon for.
Here are the specifications that are required, but as usual, how you design it is up to you.
A minimum speed of 20 knots, powered by 2 engines and with 2 shafts.
Its main armament is:
3 (Yes, 3)x100 mm guns- these are the required weapons, due to Moroccan/French relations, and provide serious shore bombardment, anti-air, and anti-shipping power.

2x30 mm cannon (Alternatively, any CWIS in active service, its up to you to pick, or keep it interchangable depending on the mission)

1x20 mm cannon

100 mines

4 RHIBs for supporting minelaying and other operations

and a helicopter with flight deck, but no hangar is required.
Its crew should consist of less then 120 men and the ship must be able to support its full crew for a month.

it may seem a bit stereotypical but I personally would like to see a super dreadnought battleship challenge myself, in a similar style to something like the Montana or the yamato class. also maybe a fast Fleet replenishment ship challenge would be a good idea

Some more ideas:

FD:

- WW1 tank design challenge
- Interwar tank challenge
- Technology demonstrator challenge
- Supersonic Transport (SST) challenge
- Light Tank challenge (era up to debate)
- Armored Car challenge
- Tank Destroyer challenge (any era)
- "Prototype" challenge (one-off or limited production air/ground designs)
- Airborne Aircraft Carrier + Parasite Fighter challenge; (resuggesting)
- Helicopter challenge

SB:

- World War 1 Cruiser challenge (Light or Armored); personally leaning to the former ;)
- Interwar Destroyer challenge
- Export ship design challenge for a foreign navy (open to debate on timeframe/specifications)
- Destroyer Escort challenge
- WW1/WW2 Destroyer challenge
- 1st "radical" ship design challenge (a-la Fisher's HMS Nonsuch, HMS Dreadnought, HMS Incomparable); resuggesting :?

Also, would be open to doing challenges in the new "Charscale" :)

Oh yeah it'd be nice now that a few people have begun using the scale to do a simple challenge in 1.5cm=1px Soldierbucket Scale.

I think a drawing of a single infantry squad (any era) would be a good start, a neat 5-12 soldiers.

Hi, guys. Well, I think that Char's scale is perfect for armoured vehicles, so may I propose instead of figurines, a tank, wheeled or tracked apc, or a micv (or if you prefer, a gto coupe  ) for the first challenge in charscale? cheers!

SB:
A late cold war LPH or LHD
A flight deck cruiser (of any era) or aviation cruiser (and yes their are differences between them)
A light/escort carrier (Although maybe not for a while, since the harrier carrier challenge just happened)
Modern Anti-submarine carrier
An Amphibious command ship (any era)
Attack cargo ships
High speed transports (off of destroyer hulls)

FD:
A tracked ifv family including:
The 'conventional' model
A gun armed TD version
An assault version with more armour, and a larger main weapon
A missile TD version
A cavalry version (Such as the M3 vs. M2 bradley)
An anti-air version with quad autocannon

I think I have an interesting idea for a SB design challenge as I was triggered by the following article: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/3 ... atrol-ship

The idea would be for a design challenge involving a Arctic-rated combat ship for the near future. Something allong the lines of the Russian Project 23550, Harry DeWolf class etc.

They could be powered either conventionally or nuclear, must have at least some type of offensive armament and should be designated as a true combat vessel, not just coast guard.
The rest of the design parameters I am sure we can come up together, as I am not really an expert on icebreakers.
