History

The AN/SPS-10 was an C-band medium range surface search radar. It was first introduced in 1953. The SPS-10 was retired from service by the USN at the end of 1998, however some ships use the AN/SPS-502 radars which use the same antenna. Other ships replace it with the AN/SPS-67, of which the first version also used the SPS-10 antenna. Some installations use a modified antenna (AS-936B) which adds an extension to the bottom of the antenna and 'blinders' on the sides of the feed horn to reduce sidelobes and interference with other shipboard antennas.

Some versions of SPS-10 used the antenna also used by AN/SPS-5C.
