FD Trainbucket

#1 Post by jabba »

As Navybrat85 is drawing some steam locomotives and I have started on a FD drawing of the TGV, I thought I'd start a thread in FD scale vehicles for trains.

Please feel free to post your drawings here (real life only). If this takes off, let's keep to drawings and related discussion, no going too off-topic people!!! :D

Others have drawn trains in the FD vehicle threads, and I have taken the liberty of posting them here for those who have not seen them already:

Also, (if this takes off) it might be a good idea to make a standard template with rails...

Great Pics ALVAMA and jabba! Through I confess I didn't start getting interested in trains until they started appearing on Shipbucket.
Is anyone considering doing Führersonderzug "Amerika" or Führersonderzug "Brandenburg."
Not claiming it, just wondering. (Like a kid for Christmas)

An idea for the template with rails concept...Perhaps use the railway ties to denote the train gauge? There is are many different gauges used around the world ("Standard" seems to be 4'8.5" or 1435mm, but anything between 1,000 and 1700mm wide is technically Standard Gauge).

Just on a whim I wiki'd Track Gauges http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Track_gauge.
Whew! I didn't know there was still so many gauges STILL in use.
I've read that the standardization of tracks helped the North win the Civil War and I have heard of the story that Roman roads were built to the width of two chariot horses harnessed side by side.
But now seeing the numerous track sizes in use around the world I guess some countries have to deal with bigger horse asses than others. ;)

I was surprised, too. Perhaps the rails on the template should be "standard" 4'8.5", and allow adjustments from there.
